Luqman al-Maliki an-Naqshbandi (born Lucas Crowley, 1989) is an American Muslim student and educator deeply engaged in both secular and Islamic education.
With a diverse heritage, born to a Hungarian Jewish mother and an Irish Catholic father, he was raised in Maryland, where both of his parents worked as educators. He earned an Associate (AA) degree in General Studies from Prince George’s College, with a focus on Arabic and philosophy, and is now pursuing his Bachelor’s (BS) degree in Education at the University of Maryland.He embraced Islam in 2019, which marked the beginning of his dedicated journey in Islamic studies. Rooted in a neo-traditionalist approach, he specializes in the study of the Mālikī school of jurisprudence, emphasizing the classical methodologies of Islamic scholarship while integrating them into contemporary educational frameworks. As the Director of the Muhtadeen Department at the Diyanet Center of America, he contributes significantly to convert outreach programs and fosters interfaith understanding within his community.
